LANCER SYSTEMS L6SCM
OWN A UNIQUE PIECE OF MODERN MILITARY HISTORY
THE MAGAZINE THAT WON THE NEXT GENERATION SQUAD WEAPON CONTRACT
On April 19, 2022, the U.S. Army announced that Sig Sauer, Inc., had been awarded a 10-year firm-fixed-price follow-on production contract for the manufacture and delivery of two Next Generation Squad Weapon variations, the XM5 Rifle and the XM250 Automatic Rifle.
At that time, the Army announced that the XM5 Rifle would replace the M4/M4A1 carbine within the close combat force. The magazine submitted with the XM5 platform to compete against a formidable field, and ultimately win the coveted award, is the Lancer Systems L6SCM.
Now, almost a year later, a nomenclature change with an interesting backstory, (the XM5 is now designated as the XM7), and a platform transition to a steel magazine, the original Lancer L6SCM is available to the public in very limited quantities.
Integrating key design features of Lancer’s renowned L7 AR-10/SR-25 magazines, such as a proprietary lightweight polymer translucent body, and hardened steel feed lips, the L6SCM was designed specifically for the XM5/XM7 rifle platform in 6.8x51mm.
